Dampproofing is a coating applied to the exterior of below-grade concrete and masonry to resist moisture vapor and soil dampness moving through the wall. It keeps basements and crawl spaces drier, reduces efflorescence, and limits the conditions that lead to mildew and mold on the inside face of the wall.
It is not a waterproofing membrane. If the structure sits under a water table or the specification calls for a membrane, you need fluid-applied waterproofing instead. We install both and can help you read what the plans call for.

A dampproofing coating needs a sound surface. Before we spray, we remove scale, loose mortar, dust, dirt, oil, and grease, and fill cracks, voids, and honeycomb with cement mortar. When the spec calls for abrasive blasting, we bring our own equipment.
