Atlas Abrasives & Coatings provides fluid-applied concrete waterproofing and residential, commercial, and civil dampproofing for foundations, retaining walls, and other below-grade concrete across Northern Utah. We are based in Brigham City and work throughout Box Elder, Cache, Weber, and Davis counties.

What We Do

• Foundation dampproofing: asphalt emulsion dampproofing for residential, commercial, and civil concrete and masonry — spray, brush, or trowel applied.
• Fluid-applied waterproofing: cold-applied membranes for below-grade concrete where a water barrier is required.
• Surface preparation to spec: cleaning, crack and void fill, and abrasive blasting when the project specifications demand a blasted profile.
• Submittals: product data, safety data sheets, application instructions, and required warranty documents for engineer and owner review.

What We Don’t Do

We work on concrete and foundations, not roofs, decks, plaza decks, or planters.

Dampproofing vs. Waterproofing

These are different systems for different conditions:

• Dampproofing is a coating — typically an asphalt emulsion — that resists moisture vapor and soil dampness moving through the wall. It is the minimum most residential codes require on below-grade walls, and it is cost-effective protection for structures that are not under a standing water load.
• Waterproofing is a continuous, elastomeric membrane that stops liquid water, including water under hydrostatic pressure. It bridges minor shrinkage cracks and is the right call for high water tables, finished basements, elevator pits, and any specification that calls for a membrane rather than a coating.

Why Surface Prep Matters

Laitance, form release, dust, and loose mortar can keep a coating from bonding to concrete. That matters when the wall gets backfilled and access is gone.

Surface prep is our core trade. If the spec calls for a blasted profile, we bring our own equipment. If it calls for a clean, sound surface with cracks and voids filled, we do that too.

We Follow the Spec

We install the system your spec calls for, including products from W.R. Meadows, Tremco, and Epro. We follow its thickness and cure requirements and prepare submittals for commercial and civil jobs.

Our Process

1. Review the specification — or help you pick a system if there is not one.
2. Prepare submittals for engineer and owner approval.
3. Prep the substrate — clean, fill cracks and voids, and blast if required.
4. Apply the system at the specified coverage and thickness, with protection at penetrations, cold joints, and footing transitions.
5. Inspect and document so the wall is ready for drainage board, insulation, and backfill.

Residential, Commercial, and Civil

• Residential: poured and block foundation walls on new construction and additions.
• Commercial: below-grade walls, elevator pits, retaining walls, parapets, and firewalls.
• Civil: culverts, bridge abutments, cisterns, tanks, and other cast-in-place concrete.
